UT Health Science Center San Antonio “I Don’t” Campaign

“I Don’t” was an awareness campaign focused on preventing and stopping teen smoking. After researching and meeting with teenagers from schools across the city, our team was able to create a campaign that intimately portrayed our target audience. We produced billboards and TV, placed media throughout South Texas and emersed ourselves in school seminars and concerts promoting the teen to teen awareness camaign. We also included the schools and their students in the creation of the campaign and formulated the "why's" not to smoke in a fun, teen oriented manner—making it cool to say "I Don't". We garnered publicity through the television stations and grass roots word of mouth, which allowed us to transfer funds to other campaign areas that could not be executed without financial inputs. Television personalities throughout San Antonio held assemblies at over 50 schools to promote the campaign. Through this free publicity, over 17,900 kids signed an agreement not to smoke.
