San Antonio, Texas – Methodist Healthcare has created a social media campaign that encourages its nearly six thousand Facebook fans to become organ donors and raise big money for a charity. Every day, an estimated 18 people die waiting for an organ transplant. Methodist Healthcare believes that through social media, they can make a difference in San Antonio and the South Texas community.
“The transplant programs at Methodist Healthcare are some of the best in the nation,” said Palmira Arellano, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations. “So when Facebook announced it was making it easier for its one billion members to become organ donors – we saw our chance to make a difference for everyone on the transplant waiting list, not just our patients.” http://www.TexasTransplant.org.
The Methodist Healthcare Facebook campaign is easy to join. Every fan that registers on the Donate Life state registry changes their Facebook organ donor status and posts on the Methodist Healthcare wall, “I am a lifesaver. I am an organ donor“ will be entered into a drawing for up to $2,500 for the charity of their choice.
The campaign runs through Thursday, May 31. The winner will be announced on Monday, June 4 on the Methodist Healthcare Facebook page.
