“Your generous donations will put smiles on the faces of children with burns, orthopedic conditions and other medical needs,” said Alzafar Shriner John Dunn. “Shriners Hospitals for Children provide world-class healthcare regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.”
Across Texas, children in need of healthcare for serious medical conditions have found the coverage they need thanks to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. For the South Texas region covering 24 counties, the Alzafar Shriners play a critical role in helping transport youngsters and their families to Shriner Hospitals in Houston and Galveston.
The 8th Annual Country Glitz Gala will feature inspiring stories by local patients whose health has improved thanks to Shriners Hospitals. Shriners and patients are also available for media interviews. A Gala Website created by esd & associates features local patients whom the Alzafar Shriners help on a regular basis. Two patients, Ashley Smith and Zaida Larralde, will be recognized at the gala as they graduate from the hospital’s program.

Shriners Hospitals for Children, a network of 22 pediatric hospitals across North America, provide specialized care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to age 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment regardless of ability to pay.
Shriners Hospitals believe the family plays a vital role in a child’s ability to overcome an illness or injury, Dunn added. They help the family provide the support the child needs by involving the family in all aspects of care and recovery. The purpose of all Shriners Hospitals is to provide care for children so they can lead fuller, more productive lives. To date, they have cared for more than 1 million children.
