The amount of social media content a user sees in a day is overwhelming – almost as overwhelming as trying to figure out how your content fits into that queue.

Posting and planning your posts can often leave you and your marketing team confused, as you may wonder how to know if you’re posting frequency is too much, too little, or just right.

While different content strategies work for different accounts, industries, and brands, below are some basic guidelines for posting on common social media platforms:

Facebook
To avoid making your users feel like your content is spam, don’t post more than once per day or every other day. Posting more than once per day could result in users “un-liking” your page and hiding your posts altogether.

Twitter
If Twitter is your main social media channel, tweeting approximately 15 times per day can help you stay at the top of your followers’ feed. However, if you’re live tweeting to keep your users updated, more than 15 tweets a day shouldn’t harm your following.

LinkedIn
This platform is an effective tool to help brand your business or organization as an expert within your industry. We recommend posting once per day at most. Be sure to vary your content by curating a blog or best-practices post once per week.

Instagram
This millennial-centric platform can give your brand the engagement it needs. Post once to twice per day to maintain your reach. However, make sure posts are answering a need or are beneficial to your followers to avoid spam-like posts.
